The Atlas Society’s Pocket Guide to Terms is a glossary of 42 terms defined from an Objectivist perspective. Included are terms familiar to readers of Ayn Rand, such as “egoism,” integrity,” “individualism,” and “sacrifice,” as well as terms deserving wider acceptance. “Benevolence,” for example, which is defined as “a commitment to achieving the values derivable from life with other people in society, treating them as potential trading partners, recognizing their humanity, independence, and individuality, and the harmony between their interests and ours.” And “gratitude”––“a state of appreciation of what is good in one’s life and the values received from others.”

The Pocket Guide to Terms is an accessible, quick reference for anyone who wants to think about, and discuss, important philosophical and psychological concepts.
